The Alternative Electrician

Inspiration

The Alternative Electrician was originally written for the Story Friday: Sparks event run by A Word In Your Ear. This involved me performing the story amidst a whole load of machinery at The Museum of Bath at Work on November 16th, 2012. I think the inspiration for Diz was a lovely Tai Chi teacher that we used to have, who taught after hours at our local hospital and who on one occasion - bless him - refused to use a particular room because it used to be a psych ward and "gave off bad vibes". I began to wonder what it would be like if he retrained as an electrician and it all proceeded from there.

After the performance in Bath, I submitted The Alternative Electrician to Every Day Fiction and they published it on November 25th, 2013.
