Inspiration

Spanish Echoes was originally written for Round One of the 2009 Whittaker Prize. The prompt used was a song, although I have no recollection which one. It was given a score of 80/100 by the judges.

Publications

Spanish Echoes was published in the anthology resulting from the Whittaker Prize competition, The Rhinoceros and his Thoughts.

Notes

This poem was inspired by the depressing experience of searching for a care home for my father, and observing the living areas full of comatose old men and women and wondering what memories might be locked up in there.
