After taking another look at the title and realising that I had (completely accidentally) created the first two lines of a formal 5-7-5 syllable haiku, I added ''Here to Save the World'' to complete it. In this form, I submitted it to the ''[http://www.leafbooks.co.uk Leaf Books] Poetry Competition'' the very same month, where it was highly commended.

The version published in ''"Dancing with Delsie"'' referred to a blank versifier. After performing the poem at an open mic in front of ''[http://www.fireriverpoets.org.uk Fire River Poets]'', who know about these things, it was politely pointed out to me that what I meant was a ''free'' versifier. Blank verse is a different thing altogether.

Inspiration

Pants Outside Trousers, Big Letter H on T Shirt, Here to Save the World started life as an entry into the monthly Dorrie's Challenge on the Slingink writing forum, in October 2008. The prompt that month was "Rescue", and Pants Outside Trousers, Big Letter H on T Shirt (as it was originally known as) was voted first out of thirteen entries.

Placings

After taking another look at the title and realising that I had (completely accidentally) created the first two lines of a formal 5-7-5 syllable haiku, I added Here to Save the World to complete it. In this form, I submitted it to the Leaf Books Poetry Competition the very same month, where it was commended.

Publications

As a commended entry, it was published in Leaf Books' anthology, "Dancing with Delsie" in 2009.

Notes

The version published in "Dancing with Delsie" referred to a blank versifier. After performing the poem at an open mic in front of Fire River Poets, who know about these things, it was politely pointed out to me that what I meant was a free versifier. Blank verse is a different thing altogether.
