Inspiration

A Short History of the Cold War was originally written for Round Four of the 2013 Not the Whittaker Prize. I have no idea what the prompt was, or indeed what it scored. It's original title was simply "Cold War", which was a little unambitious.

Placings

A Short History of the Cold War was commended in the 2015 Café Writers Competition (and won a prize for it). It was also shortlisted in the 2016 Fish Publishing Poetry Competition.

Notes

The original source of inspiration for this poem was, curiously enough, the Steptoe and Son episode, "Divided We Stand".
