He was working on their biography at the time of their deaths and he himself died in a house fire not long afterwards, thus setting an unfortunate precedent that his replacement [[George Burgess]] would ultimately follow. All of Felmersham's papers were destroyed in the fire, along with the tapes of a series of long and candid interviews with the twins.
